We started our stay at Pono Kai Resort on the east shore. This charming resort is perfect for a relaxed vacation with its spacious suites and direct beach access. It’s great for both families and couples. The lush gardens and island vibes made it a cozy and comfortable base for our adventures.

Must-See Attractions: My Top Activities in Kauai
Makua Beach (Tunnels Beach)
Makua Beach was our top hangout spot. The scenery is breathtaking, and the snorkeling is out of this world. The crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life are a snorkeler’s dream. Tip: Arrive early to snag a parking spot and explore the nearby sea cave. The shaved ice and smoothie food truck on-site is a must-try!
Nāpali Coast Sunset Dinner Cruise
The highlight of our trip was the Nāpali Coast Sunset Dinner Cruise with Kauai Sea Tours. Sailing along the coast, passing through waterfalls, and spotting dolphins was pure magic. Captain Kauai and his crew were fantastic hosts. Pro tip: Book early because these cruises fill up fast! Use this link to book on Viator and secure your spot before your trip.
Luau Kalamaku at Gaylord’s
For a true Hawaiian experience, you can’t miss Luau Kalamaku at Gaylord’s. We went all out with the VIP dinner ticket, which included a four-course meal in the garden, a torch-lit walk to our front-row seats, and an incredible show. Our daughter even got to hula dance with a performer! Don’t forget to explore the Koala Rum shop before the show—the cacao and coffee rums are a must-try. Waimea Canyon State Park
Driving through Waimea Canyon State Park was a visual feast. Even with a few light showers, the lush landscapes and stunning overlooks were breathtaking. The drive to Puʻu o Kila for views of the Nāpali Coast and Kalalau Valley is a must. Pack a picnic and enjoy the serene beauty of this natural wonder.
